THE Rotary Club of Thame celebrated the end of its Presidential Year by the retiring President Peter Todd handing over to Peter Hook end with Maureen Westcott taking the position of President Elect for next year. This was followed by the presentations of cheques to local and international charities which included six local Thame charities. The photograph shows Mary-Anne Osborne receiving a cheque for the Thame Health Centre. £3,500 was presented to local charities from a grand total of £12,319 raised during the past year, the greatest amount going to the Haiti Shelterbox appeal where 130 people are now accommodated in the Thame Shelterboxes sent there. AN evening with Dr Miguel Mesquita da Cunha, 7.30pm to 9.15pm at St Mary’s Church, Thame. Miguel Mesquita has been invited again from Brussels by Lord Williams School to give the key-note speech and act as consultant for the Model United Nations General Assembly at the School and he has kindly agreed to lead a discussion organised by the Men’s and Women’s groups based at St Mary’s.
