Events calendar for Thomley Activity Centre July 2010 - October 2010 -
THOMLEY Activity Centre is a unique recreational facility for disabled children, their families, siblings, and friends. Situated on the Buckinghamshire/Oxfordshire border in 7 acres of beautiful countryside, Thomley offers a safe and supportive setting for children to play, learn and explore.
There are a wide range of activities suitable for all ages and abilities, allowing everyone to have fun, make new friends, and most of all, feel accepted. Activities vary from outdoor activities including; a football pitch; 1km cycle track; zip wire and large sheltered sand pit to numerous indoor areas including; arts and craft; computer room; soft play area and the very popular sensory room.

Please note that in school/term time Thomley is open to special schools and mainstream schools who include students with additional learning needs. We are open Wednesdays to Fridays throughout term time. Activities can be tailor-made to compliment school projects.
o Tuesday 6th July Adult day - Open to disabled adults (16+) and their carers to; try out a variety of art and craft activities, relax in a rural environment, chill out in the sensory room or just have a chat and a cup of tea.
o Saturday 17th July - Family day Open to disabled children, their families and friends to enjoy a variety of indoor activities and outdoor equipment at Thomley including the soft play area, art and craft room, 1km cycle track or why not explore our new large outdoor sandpit?
o Wednesday 21st July Wednesday 1st September Summer holidays Summer holidays at Thomley Activity Centre begin on Wednesday 21st July, running Tuesday to Saturday each week until Wednesday 1st September. Our alphabet themed summer will include all of our usual activities plus exciting extras including; archery, Thomleys Got Talent and gardening. Well also be holding a family open day for all on Saturday 7th August, between 11am-3pm.
The following dates are focus days during the Summer Holidays which we currently have spaces for -
o Wednesday 21st July Disability Preschool day Open to disabled pre-school toddlers and babies (up to the age of 6yrs) accompanied by their parents/ carers. Were kick starting our alphabet theme with A for Aquarium. Activities will include giant bubble making between 1-3pm and jellyfish sensory play!
o Thursday 22nd July Family Only Day (no group bookings) - Open to disabled children, their families and friends to enjoy a variety of indoor activities and outdoor equipment at Thomley including bubbles and bouncy castle for our letter B alphabet theme!
o Saturday 24th July Family day Open to disabled children, their families and friends to enjoy a variety of indoor and outdoor activities at Thomley, including the hunt for Dinosaur bones in our giant sandpit do you dare to come and excavate for them?
o Tuesday 27th July Teenager day For all disabled young people aged between 10- 19yrs accompanied by their parents/ carers. Younger siblings are also welcome. Teenage days provide a great opportunity to socialise with other teenagers, to make new friends and try out various activities, including the very popular 1km cycle track, outdoor sandpit or why not put on your white coat and Experiment with Mad Science?
o Saturday 31st July Quiet day Quiet days are specifically designed for families and children with disabilities who might prefer a quieter day. Numbers are limited to 30 children and are a birthday party free zone. Come and join us for chilled out time with an afternoon viewing of Ice Age plus ice play and painting.
o Tuesday 3rd August Adult day Open to disabled adults (16+) and their carers to try out a variety of art and craft activities including gardening and sugar craft or relax in a rural environment for a chat and a cup of tea.
o Saturday 7th August Discover Thomley Annual Open Day (Open from 11am-3pm, no booking required and open to everyone) Come and explore the open spaces and wildlife at Thomley. Activities for the day will include the official opening of our giant outdoor sandpit, willow craft and weaving, face painting plus an opportunity to trial adapted bikes by Quest 88.
o Tuesday 10th August Preschool day For all pre-school toddlers and babies (up to the age of 6yrs) with and without disabilities accompanied by their parents/ carers. For our M alphabet theme well have masks, music and plenty of mess!! (Bookable multisensory music and movement workshops between 12-3.30pm)
o Saturday 14th August Teenager day For all disabled young people aged between 10- 19yrs accompanied by their parents/ carers. Younger siblings are also welcome. Teenage days provide a great opportunity to socialise with other teenagers and try out various activities, including the very popular 1km cycle track and outdoor sandpit. Or in the afternoon, why not try our Thomley Quest water quaser lazer challenge?? Lets see how wet you can get, but remember to bring spare clothes and a towel!
o Tuesday 24th August Adult day (please note later closing of 4pm) Open to disabled adults (16+) and their carers to try out a variety of art and craft activities, chill out in our sensory room or find your rhythm with our Umbanda drumming workshop from 2-4pm.
o Saturday 28th August Quiet day Quiet days are specifically designed for families and children with disabilities who might prefer a quieter day. Numbers are limited to 30 children and are a birthday party free zone. Its blast off for our final alphabet letter with Zip Zap Zoom rocket inspired art and crafts.
o Tuesday 31st August Teenager day For all disabled young people aged between 10- 19yrs accompanied by their parents/ carers. Younger siblings are also welcome. Teenage days provide a great opportunity to socialise with other teenagers, to make new friends and try out various activities, including the very popular 1km cycle track, outdoor sandpit, plus an archery workshop from 12-3pm.
o Wednesday 1st September - Family Only Day (no group bookings) - Open to disabled children, their families and friends to enjoy a variety of alphabet inspired indoor and outdoor activities and outdoor equipment at Thomley including bubbles and bouncy castle for our letter B alphabet theme!
SUMMER HOLIDAYS END!
o Thursday 2nd September to Friday 10th September closed for maintenance
o Saturday 11th September Community Day - Open to all children (i.e. disabled and non-disabled) and their families to enjoy all the usual Thomley activities from soft play to the 1km cycle track.
o Tuesday 14th September Adult day Open to disabled adults (16+) and their carers to try out a variety of art and craft activities, relax in a rural environment, chill out in the sensory room or just have a chat and a cup of tea.
o Tuesday 21st September Preschool day For all pre-school toddlers and babies (up to the age of 6yrs) with and without disabilities accompanied by their parents/ carers. Activities are designed for children to play, explore and most importantly get messy!
o Saturday 25th September Quiet day Quiet days are specifically designed for families and children with disabilities who might prefer a quieter day. Numbers are limited to 30 children and are a birthday party free zone.
o Saturday 2nd October - Community Day - Open to all children (i.e. disabled and non-disabled) and their families to enjoy all the usual Thomley activities from arts and craft and soft play to our 1km cycle track and giant outdoor sandpit.
o Tuesday 5th October Adult day Open to disabled adults (16+) and their carers to try out a variety of art and craft activities, relax in a rural environment, chill out in the sensory room or just have a chat and a cup of tea.
