15/07/10....Good and bad retail news for Thame -

FIRST the bad news. The gift shop, Thame Trading, in Cornmarket is closing after eight years management by Di Bone, and Essence in Buttermarket is also closing.

The proprietor of Essence, Keith Slater, will not be renewing the lease which ended at the same time as the building changed hands for a sum in the region of £450,000. Keith told Thamenews.net: "We have been there for the past six years and have greatly enjoyed them. It hasn't been the easiest of times for trading in the town particularly with the loss of the toy shop and Woolworths, but it has been sucessful for us nevertheless. Hopefully the new occupants will enjoy trading there as much as we have."

The good news: The old Sapphire Moon shop at the top of the High Street, which closed earlier in the year, has now been re-opened as a hairdresser's and the ladies' clothes shop, Miso, also in the Buttermarket, which closed last year, has now been re-opened by Powder Cosmetic and Fragrance Company Ltd, under the management of Karen Moore.

Eclipse, the hairdresser's in The Shambles, Buttermarket, Thame, will shortly be moving to where Flame Lily was in North Street.

On Monday, the proporietors of Ruby Moon (adjacent to The Coffee House in Buttermarket)began trading next door in what was Mr Price Right, clothing store.

The extra space will enable Ruby Moon to expand its range of handbags, jewellery, lamps and clothes.

The new shop was officially opened by Pauline, who closed Mr Price Right on her retirement.
