20/07/10.....Take your first steps to becoming a runner -

GET Oxfordshire Active (GO Active) and South Oxfordshire District Council are aiming to get more people out exercising with social jogging groups across the district.

TOMORROW, 21st July, Running Buddies is starting a 10 week beginner’s course on Wednesday evenings, 7 – 8pm at Thame Leisure Centre, and cost £2 per session.

Everyone who completes the course will receive a running shirt, water bottle and training log book.

The Just Jog campaign started in March this year and trained nine volunteers to become jog leaders, leading groups in Thame, Henley, Didcot, Benson and Wheatley.

Nicky Gennery who signed up for a 10 week beginner’s course earlier this year said:

“It was difficult and at times motivation dipped, but with the support and encouragement from the two Jog Leaders I have achieved so much more than I imagined. I have just completed 'Race for Life' and I jogged nearly all the way.”
