10/10/12....Big 'thank you' to Thame ducks ! -
THE Thame and District Day Centre is delighted to have learned that it is to receive a donation totalling £436 from the shared proceeds of the annual Thame duck race held by Thame Round Table in support of local charities.
The event – in which the toy ducks are traditionally launched from the Long Crendon Road bridge - went off in excellent weather last month, after being delayed twice earlier this year because of the bad weather.
The Day Centre is an independent local charity and meets at Thame Community Hospital in East Street, three times a week. Gill Coleman, the Centre's Manager, spoke of her delight at the donation. She thanked the Round Table for its support and said: "This gift will contribute very much to the many things which we do to enhance the time which our members spend with us: outings, entertainments and treats, for example."
The Day Centre which provides day care for people who may be isolated, frail or elderly in the area, has met at the Thame Community Hospital for the past 25 years.
